The ambi work

Ambi is the paisley motif — the curved, teardrop shape that runs through Indian textile design. Here it is worked in black thread embroidery with sequins, across a firozy blue base. Black on bright blue is a high-contrast pairing: the motif reads clearly from across a room rather than disappearing into the fabric, which is what gives this suit its presence.

The fabrics
