Butter crepe is a fabric, not a colour

The name misleads, so we will say it plainly. Butter crepe is a soft, finely textured crepe with a smooth matte surface and good drape — the name describes the hand of the cloth, not its colour. This suit is green and maroon.

Green and maroon

Two deep colours together rather than a colour against a neutral. Both hold their depth under artificial light, which makes this the more evening-leaning piece in our butter crepe range — the ambi print versions with red lace are brighter and read better in daylight.

The dupatta

Chiffon, with an organza lace trim. Chiffon drapes softer than the crepe of the shirt and bottom, so the dupatta moves differently from the rest of the set — which is the point of pairing them.

Who this suit is for

Evening functions and festive occasions where you want colour with weight to it. Deep green and maroon photograph well and do not wash out under indoor lighting.

Care

Dry clean only. Crepe distorts if wrung, chiffon snags, and the organza lace is the most delicate part of the set. Never iron over the lace trim — press the plain fabric only, on low, from the reverse.
