This is pattra work, not mirror work

Pattra work is small metal plates stitched onto the fabric. It catches light the way mirrors do, which is exactly why the two get confused — but they are not the same thing. Mirror work uses glass held in a ring of thread; this uses metal.

We are being specific because a listing that says mirror work sets an expectation this suit does not meet. What it has is a reflective neckline detail that behaves much like mirror work and costs less.

The pattra work is at the neckline only — not across the shirt.

The dupatta is Banarasi-style

Woven in the Banarasi manner. Banarasi-style, not Banarasi silk — the weave is the claim, and there is no silk in this suit. At this price that distinction matters, and we would rather state it than let you assume.

A woven dupatta is what lifts this above a printed set: it carries the festive weight while the muslin shirt stays light.

About the fabrics

The shirt is muslin — a fine, soft, loosely woven cotton, light on the skin and comfortable in heat. It is also delicate and not a fabric to be rough with.

The bottom is taffeta, which gives a salwar or trouser more body than muslin would.

Who this suit is for

Festive daywear — a puja, a family gathering, a daytime function. Green is the easier of our two versions to wear in daylight; the rose pink is the softer, more romantic one.

Stitching

Stitching is a separate service, charged on top of the fabric price. Point out the neckline work to your tailor before cutting so the neck is shaped around it. Stitched orders take 7–15 working days before dispatch.

Care

Dry clean only. Muslin needs it, and the metal plates will catch and pull in a home wash.

Never iron over the pattra work — metal conducts heat and will scorch the fabric around it. Press the plain areas only, and keep clear of the neckline.
