You will see organza sold as breathable summer wear. It isn't. Organza is a crisp, sheer, tightly woven fabric that holds its shape — that structure is exactly what makes it beautiful, and exactly why it doesn't breathe. Buy this for how it looks and moves, not to stay cool in it.

The bottom is art silk, a man-made fibre, not silk.

The colour

Ice blue is a pale, cool blue that sits close to a neutral. It's the quieter end of festive dressing — it takes silver and pearl better than gold, and it reads well in daylight, where pale colours hold up and deep ones can go heavy.

The work

Zari is metallic thread, set here with sequins and beadwork. Against a sheer pale ground the embellishment is what you see first, which is the point of the piece.

Care

Dry clean only. Never iron over the zari, sequins or beadwork — sequins melt and zari scorches. Press the plain areas on low, from the reverse. Keep perfume and hairspray off the worked areas; moisture tarnishes metallic thread. Store folded with a cloth layer, not on a hanger — organza creases set hard and the beadwork drags.

No. Organza is crisp and structured rather than cooling, despite how often it's sold as summer wear. For hot weather, cotton or mul cotton is the better choice.

No. It's art silk, a man-made fibre. We don't describe it as silk.
