About Resham Work

Resham is embroidery worked in silk thread. It sits differently from metallic work — softer, with a gentle sheen that follows the curve of each stitch rather than flashing like zari. That makes it well suited to floral designs, where the thread can follow the shape of a petal or a leaf. On a pale ground like this one it reads as colour and texture rather than sparkle.

Where You Can Wear It

This one works harder than a single-occasion piece. It is dressy enough for a festive gathering, a puja or Karva Chauth, and restrained enough to wear to a parent-teacher meeting or a family lunch. The colour is soft rather than loud, which is what lets it cross between the two.

About Tissue Fabric

Tissue is a fine, lightly sheer fabric with a natural shimmer woven into it. It catches light without needing heavy embellishment, which is why the resham work here is kept to the front panel and the borders rather than spread across the whole shirt. Being lightly sheer, many people line a tissue kurta — tell your tailor at the outset if you plan to.

Stitching & Size

This is an unstitched suit set, so you can have it tailored exactly to your measurements. The fabric can be stitched up to size 4XL. Point out the front panel work and the scalloped edges to your tailor before cutting, so the shape is planned around them rather than cut through.

Occasion

Made for family gatherings, festive occasions and pujas, and a good choice for Karva Chauth — the sargi morning or the evening itself.

Care

Dry clean only. Tissue is delicate and snags easily, so store it folded in a soft cotton bag, away from direct sunlight. Use a low-heat iron with a pressing cloth, and avoid ironing directly over the resham work or the scalloped edges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suit stitched or unstitched?
It is unstitched. You receive the shirt, bottom and dupatta fabric, which you can get tailored to your own measurements.

What is the largest size this can be stitched to?
The fabric can be stitched up to size 4XL.

What is resham work?
Resham is embroidery worked in silk thread. It has a soft sheen that follows each stitch, rather than the bright metallic flash of zari.

Is the design embroidered or printed?
Embroidered. The front panel carries resham silk thread work, with scalloped cutwork edges framing it.

Where is the work on this suit?
Across the full front panel of the shirt and along the hem border, with a four-side designer border on the dupatta.

What fabric is this suit made from?
The shirt and dupatta are lightweight tissue, and the bottom is silk.

Is tissue fabric see-through?
It is lightly sheer, which is why many people line a tissue kurta. Lining is not included with this set.

Can I wear this as daywear rather than for a function?
Yes. It is restrained enough for a parent-teacher meeting or a family lunch, while still being dressy enough for a puja or a festive gathering.

Does the dupatta have work on all four sides?
Yes. A designer border runs on all four sides, with scalloped edging.

Is lining included with this suit?
No. Lining fabric is not included and needs to be purchased separately.

What should I tell my tailor?
That the shirt has a worked front panel with scalloped edges — the cut should be planned around them rather than through them.

How should I care for this suit?
Dry clean only. Tissue snags easily, so store it folded and iron on low heat with a pressing cloth, keeping clear of the resham work.
