The Handwork

Three techniques sit on top of the weave. Moti is pearl work. Sippi is shell work, which catches light with a soft sheen rather than a sparkle. Dabka is coiled metallic wire, couched onto the fabric to give raised, defined outlines. Together they lift the woven motifs off the surface instead of flattening into the weave.
