What Maheshwari fabric is

Maheshwari is a handloom tradition from Maheshwar, a town on the Narmada in Madhya Pradesh. The weave was established there in the eighteenth century under Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, who brought weavers to the town to produce cloth for the royal household and for gifting. It is known for being light and fluid with a matte finish rather than a high shine, and for its distinctive borders. It drapes softly, which is why it wears comfortably through a long function.

What a patola print is

Patola is a double-ikat weave from Patan in Gujarat, where both warp and weft threads are dyed to pattern before weaving — one of the most demanding textile techniques in India, and priced accordingly. A patola print takes that distinctive geometry, with its stepped edges and repeating motifs, and prints it onto fabric.

This suit carries a patola print, not a woven patola. You get the visual language of the tradition at a price woven patola does not reach, and we would rather say that plainly than let the word imply something it isn't.
