This is an all-black georgette suit with embroidery, supplied as a 3-piece set. The work can be customised to your height, slit and flare before it is made, and it is stitchable to your own measurement up to size 7XL.

Please note: this is an unstitched suit. You receive the fabric pieces, not a finished garment. Stitching is available as a separate service and is charged in addition.

Stitchable to 7XL

Most unstitched suits stop at 5XL, and a great many stop well before that. This one goes to 7XL, and the reason is in the cloth: the shirt and bottom come as 5.5 metres rather than the usual 5, so the larger sizes come from genuinely more fabric instead of from cutting a standard piece close.

That extra half-metre is useful at every size, not only the largest. It is the difference between a tailor saying yes to the length you wanted and saying there is not quite enough to work with.

The work can be made for your body

On most unstitched suits the embroidery is already fixed on the cloth, and your tailor has to cut around wherever it happens to fall — which is why a border sometimes lands at an awkward height, or a motif disappears into a seam.

If you choose to customise, we place the work after you tell us three things:

• Your height — so the embroidery sits where it should on your frame rather than on an average one
• Slit length — short or long, and the work is placed to suit it
• How much flare you want — a narrow straight shirt and a wide flared one need the design laid out differently

This matters more at the larger end of the size range than at the smaller. Proportions that work on a 5XL frame do not simply scale up, and placement decided for an average body is exactly what tends to go wrong. Message us to talk it through before you order.

This piece is made after you order it, so it is dispatched within 7 working days rather than the 48 working hours that applies to our ready stock. Once dispatched, delivery across India takes a further 3 to 7 business days.

Customised orders cannot be returned or exchanged

Because the work on this piece is done to your own specification — your height, your slit, your flare — it cannot be resold to anyone else, so customised orders are not eligible for return or exchange. Georgette, and why it suits a longer silhouette

Georgette is a lightweight fabric with a slightly grainy surface and a fluid drape — it falls close to the body and moves as you move. On a longer or fuller cut that fluidity is what stops the garment looking heavy: the fabric travels with you rather than holding a rigid shape.

It also carries embroidery without the weight of the work pulling the cloth out of shape, which a lighter or softer fabric would struggle with.

An all-black occasion suit

Black is the least common choice in Indian festive wear and, for that reason, one of the most effective. It does not date, it does not clash with any jewellery you own, and it carries from a wedding evening to a formal dinner to a milestone celebration.

This is an evening piece more than a daytime one — a wedding function, a reception, a sangeet, an anniversary dinner, a Diwali evening.

Care

A note on colour and work

Natural variation in texture and embroidery placement is characteristic of this kind of work and is not a defect. Black photographs differently under different lighting, so the depth of the shade may read differently in hand than on screen.
