Mustard Georgette Suit with Resham Work
A mustard unstitched suit set in georgette from the Luxury Edit, worked in green resham with handwork and bead highlighting, with heavy work on the sleeves and a four-side scalloped dupatta. Stitchable up to size 8XL.
What's Included
- Shirt and bottom: Georgette — 5.5 m as a single length
- Dupatta: Georgette — 2.5 m
Please note: Lining fabric is not included and needs to be purchased separately.
5.5 Metres, Cut as You Like
The shirt and bottom come as one continuous 5.5 metre length rather than two fixed pieces. That is the reason this set goes up to 8XL, and it also leaves the proportions to you — a longer kurta with a slimmer bottom, a shorter kurta with a fuller sharara or palazzo, or a flared silhouette if that is what you want. Decide with your tailor before cutting.
Design Details
- Green resham work winding through the neckline, placket and dupatta edges
- Heavy work on the sleeves — a dense scrolling panel in green resham
- Bead and handwork highlighting lifting the resham off the surface
- Four-side scalloped border running around the dupatta
- Deep worked panel at the dupatta ends in green and yellow with floral detailing
About the Work
Resham is embroidery worked in silk thread, with a soft sheen that follows the curve of each stitch rather than flashing like zari. Here it is worked in green against the mustard ground — a contrast rather than a tonal match — and highlighted with beads and handwork so the scrolling lines sit raised on the fabric. The sleeves carry the heaviest concentration, which means the work shows when your arms move rather than sitting flat against the body.
Made for Haldi and Mehendi
Mustard with green is the classic haldi palette, and this set is built for it. Georgette is light and moves well, which matters at a function where you will be sitting on the floor, dancing and being pulled into photographs for hours. The work is concentrated on the sleeves and the dupatta rather than across the whole kurta, so it reads rich without weighing you down.
Stitching & Size
This is an unstitched suit set, so you can have it tailored exactly to your measurements. The fabric can be stitched up to size 8XL. Tell your tailor about the sleeve work and the scalloped dupatta edges before cutting, so the panels are placed where you want them and the scallops are not cut through.
Occasion
Made for mehendi and haldi functions above all, and equally at home at family gatherings, sangeet evenings and festive celebrations.
Care
Dry clean only. Georgette snags easily and the beadwork will catch, so store it folded in a soft cotton bag, away from direct sunlight. Use a low-heat iron with a pressing cloth, and never iron directly over the resham, the beads or the scalloped edges.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this suit stitched or unstitched?
It is unstitched. You receive the fabric, which you can get tailored to your own measurements.
What is the largest size this can be stitched to?
Size 8XL. The shirt and bottom come as a single 5.5 metre length, which is what allows the larger sizes.
How is the fabric supplied?
As one continuous 5.5 metre length for the shirt and bottom together, plus a separate 2.5 metre dupatta. You and your tailor decide how to divide it.
Can I make a sharara or palazzo from this?
Yes. Because the shirt and bottom are one length, you can take a shorter kurta and put the extra fabric into a fuller bottom. Discuss the proportions with your tailor before cutting.
What is resham work?
Resham is embroidery worked in silk thread. It has a soft sheen that follows each stitch, rather than the bright metallic flash of zari.
Where is the heaviest work?
On the sleeves, with a four-side scalloped border and a deep worked panel on the dupatta.
Is this suit suitable for a haldi function?
Yes. Mustard with green is the traditional haldi palette, and georgette is light enough to stay comfortable through a long function.
What fabric is this suit made from?
Georgette throughout — shirt, bottom and dupatta.
Is lining included with this suit?
No. Lining fabric is not included and needs to be purchased separately.
What should I tell my tailor?
That the sleeves carry heavy work and the dupatta has scalloped edges, and that the shirt and bottom come from one length — so the proportions need deciding before the first cut.
How should I care for this suit?
Dry clean only. Georgette snags and the beadwork catches, so store it folded and never iron over the worked areas.
