Mustard Organza Banarasi Suit with Handwork

A mustard unstitched suit set in Banarasi woven organza, with a fully hand-worked neckline, paired with a Banarasi organza dupatta woven across its full length and a crepe bottom.

What's Included

  • Shirt: Organza with Banarasi weaving — 3 m
  • Bottom: Crepe — 2.5 m
  • Dupatta: Organza with Banarasi weaving — 2.5 m

Please note: Lining fabric is not included and needs to be purchased separately.

Design Details

  • Banarasi weaving across the shirt in gold and ivory buti motifs
  • Neckline worked entirely by hand in a deep V, with a hanging drop at the centre
  • Broad woven floral border along the shirt hem
  • Dupatta woven across its full length, with wide floral borders and tassels

The Neckline

The neckline is done completely by hand, not machine-embroidered and not part of the weave. It runs as a fine beaded band down both sides of the V and finishes in a small drop at the point. This is the piece's focal point, and it is the reason the rest of the shirt is left to the weave alone.

Stitching & Size

This is an unstitched suit set, so you can have it tailored exactly to your measurements. The fabric can be stitched up to size 5XL. The shirt piece is 3 metres rather than the usual 2.5, which gives your tailor extra room for a longer kurta or fuller sleeves. Organza needs a careful hand, so tell your tailor the neckline handwork must be worked around rather than cut into.

Occasion

Made for festive occasions — Navratri, the sargi morning, pujas, family gatherings and wedding functions. Mustard is a traditional Navratri colour, and organza gives the set lift without weight.

Care

Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft cotton bag, away from direct sunlight. Use a low-heat iron with a pressing cloth — organza marks easily — and never iron directly over the neckline handwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the largest size this can be stitched to?

How much fabric is in the shirt piece?
3 metres, which is more than the usual 2.5 — useful if you want a longer kurta or fuller sleeves.

What fabric is this suit made from?
The shirt and dupatta are organza with Banarasi weaving, and the bottom is crepe.

Is the neckline hand-worked?
Yes, entirely. The neckline is done by hand — it is not machine embroidery and not part of the weave.

Is the whole dupatta woven?
Yes. The Banarasi weaving runs across the full dupatta, with wide floral borders and tassels.

Is lining included with this suit?
No. Lining fabric is not included and needs to be purchased separately.

Is this suit suitable for Navratri?
Yes. Mustard is a traditional Navratri colour, and the set works for the sargi morning, pujas and festive gatherings.

What should I tell my tailor?
That the shirt is organza with hand-worked neckline detail — organza needs a careful hand, and the handwork must be worked around rather than cut into.

How should I care for this suit?
