Monotone resham — embroidery you feel before you see

The resham is worked in the same pink as the ground. Tone on tone, not contrast.

That is a deliberate and more expensive choice than it looks. Embroidery in a contrasting colour does its own work — you see it from across a room whether or not it is well made. Monotone embroidery has nowhere to hide: it reads only through texture and the way light catches the thread, so the stitching itself has to be good.

It is the reason this is one of our more expensive mul pieces.

Mul Chanderi is not mul cotton

The two get used interchangeably and they are not the same cloth. Mul Chanderi carries the fine, slightly translucent quality of Chanderi weaving with the lightness of mul — a soft sheen that plain mul cotton does not have, and a little more structure.

On monotone embroidery that sheen matters: it is what gives the thread something to catch.

Who this suit is for

Festive daywear and occasions where you want to look considered rather than decorated — a puja, a lunch, a daytime function. Restrained by design.

Not the one if you want the work to be obvious. Tonal embroidery is quiet. For visible contrast, our peach pink mul Chanderi with black thread and sequins is the louder option.

Stitching

Stitching is a separate service, charged on top of the fabric price. Message us with what you need and we will confirm the cost and the timeline. Stitched orders take 7–15 working days before dispatch.

Care

Dry clean only. Chanderi needs it regardless, and resham embroidery pulls in a home wash. Never iron directly over the embroidery — press around it, or from the reverse with a cloth in between. Flattening monotone resham removes the texture that makes it visible at all.

What does monotone resham mean?

The thread embroidery is worked in the same colour as the fabric, so it reads through texture and light rather than contrast.

Why does that cost more?

Because there is nowhere for poor stitching to hide. Contrasting embroidery carries itself on colour; tonal work has to be well made to be seen at all.

What is mul Chanderi, and how is it different from mul cotton?

Mul Chanderi combines Chanderi weaving with the lightness of mul. It has a soft sheen and a little more structure than plain mul cotton, which is flatter and entirely matte.

What are the fabrics?

Can I wash this at home?

No. Dry clean only — Chanderi needs it and the resham will pull.
