Leaves on rust
Of all the colours a leaf print can sit on, rust is the one that makes sense of it. Rust is the colour leaves actually turn — so motif and ground belong to the same idea rather than being a design decision imposed on the fabric. A leaf print on bright pink is a pattern; a leaf print on rust is a season.
Practically, that closeness of tone is what keeps the suit quiet. The print does not jump out at you; it gives the cloth texture and depth without turning it into a statement.
Rust as an everyday colour
Rust sits in a useful place between a neutral and a colour. It is warm and earthy rather than bright, so it does not announce itself the way a strong pink or green would — but it is not beige either, and it does not disappear.
It is also one of the more practical shades for regular wear. Dust and everyday marks show far less on rust than on a pale colour, and it pairs easily with gold, with oxidised silver, and with the browns and creams already in most cupboards.
No lining needed
All three pieces are cotton, and the fabric is opaque enough to be stitched without a lining. That saves you buying extra fabric and paying your tailor to attach it, and it keeps a layer of heat off you in summer.
Hand washable at home
This suit does not need dry cleaning. Hand wash it in cold water with a mild detergent, and dry it in shade rather than direct sun to protect the print. For a suit you will wear often, that is the difference between something you reach for and something that waits for a trip to the cleaner.
Where it fits in your week
An office day, errands, a school run, a family lunch, a Gurudwara Sahib visit, a kitty party, an ordinary afternoon at home. Stitch the shirt as a straight-cut with palazzo for the easiest everyday shape, or as an A-line with churidar if you prefer something more traditional.
Stitching this suit
The suit is supplied unstitched, so the neckline, sleeve length and fit are yours to decide. It can be stitched up to size 5XL. The print runs evenly across the cloth, so it takes most cuts well without needing motif placement planned in advance. StudioJazz offers a stitching service; share what you have in mind and we will discuss it with you. Unstitched orders are dispatched within 48 working hours; stitched orders take 7 to 15 working days depending on the work involved.
Care
Hand wash only, in cold water with a mild detergent. Dry in shade rather than direct sunlight — sunlight is harder on a printed cotton than washing is. Wash separately the first time, as cotton prints can release a little colour on the first wash.
Shipping
Dispatched within 48 working hours of order confirmation and delivered across India in 3 to 7 business days. Free shipping on orders above Rs. 1,500. StudioJazz has shipped to 13 countries; international shipping is available on request.
A note on colour and print
Natural variation in colour and print placement is characteristic of cotton and is not a defect. Print placement on your piece may differ slightly from the photographs.
Frequently asked questions
What does the print show?
Leaf motifs running across the cloth, on a rust ground.
How does a leaf print differ from a floral?
Flowers draw the eye to individual blooms. Leaves run quieter and more evenly, so the print reads as texture rather than as a pattern demanding attention.
Does this suit need a lining?
No. All three pieces are cotton and the fabric is opaque enough to stitch without one — saving you the lining fabric and the tailoring to attach it.
Can I wash this at home?
Yes. Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent and dry in shade. This suit does not need dry cleaning.
What fabric is it?
Cotton — shirt, bottom and dupatta.
What's included and how much fabric?
Three pieces of 2.5 metres each — shirt, bottom and dupatta — 7.5 metres in total.
Is this suitable for summer?
Yes. It is cotton, it needs no lining, and it carries no heavy surface work — three things that keep a suit cool through a long day.
Does rust show marks easily?
Less than a pale colour would. Dust and everyday marks are far less visible on rust than on a cream or white, which is part of what makes it practical for regular wear.
Will the print fade?
Dry in shade rather than direct sunlight, and wash separately the first time. Sunlight is harder on a printed cotton than washing is.
Is this a festive suit or an everyday one?
Everyday. It is part of our Rozana collection, made for regular wear rather than occasions.
Can this be stitched to my size?
It can be stitched up to size 5XL, and the neckline, sleeve length and fit are yours to choose.
Do you stitch it, and what does that cost?
Yes, StudioJazz offers stitching. Charges depend on the design and the amount of work involved — message us and we will confirm the cost before you proceed.
Do you ship internationally?
StudioJazz has shipped to 13 countries. International shipping is available on request — message us with your location before ordering.
