The resham work

Resham is thread embroidery — coloured thread worked into the fabric so it moves with the cloth rather than sitting stiffly on top. There is no zari, no sequin and no mirror work here; the embroidery is the only decoration, which is why the suit reads as quiet rather than festive-loud.

Resham on mul behaves differently from resham on organza. Where organza holds the stitching taut and lets it catch light, mul is soft and the work settles into the cloth — you notice it as texture close up rather than as shine from across a room. It is the more understated of the two.
