Sleeve work survives the cutting table

The thread embroidery is on the sleeves. That matters more than it sounds on an unstitched suit: embroidery placed across a shirt panel can end up cut through or half-buried in a seam, depending on how your tailor cuts. Sleeve work does not have that problem — it stays where it is, whatever fit you choose.

The rest of the shirt is printed, so the embroidery reads as a finishing detail rather than the whole story.

Black in cotton is unusual

Most black suits are georgette, crepe or silk — evening fabrics. A black mul cotton suit gives you the formality of the colour with a fabric you can wear through a hot day, which is a combination that barely exists on the market.

It is also the most forgiving colour in daily wear. Black does not show what a pale cotton shows.

About mul cotton

Mul is the finest, lightest cotton weave we stock — soft, fine and genuinely breathable. It is the fabric for real heat, not the one that only claims to be. It creases, as fine cotton does, and softens with every wash.

The shirt and dupatta are mul; the bottom is cotton, which gives a salwar or trouser more substance than mul would.

Who this suit is for

Daytime formality in warm weather — work, a meeting, a lunch, a function where black is the right register but the heat is not negotiable.

Not the one if you want low-maintenance. Mul creases readily and the thread work means dry clean only. For a suit you can wash at home, our Rozana cottons are the better answer.

Stitching is a separate service, charged on top of the fabric price. Message us with what you need and we will confirm the cost and the timeline. Stitched orders take 7–15 working days before dispatch.

Care

Dry clean only. Mul cotton on its own could take a gentle hand wash, but thread embroidery cannot — it pulls, and colours can bleed. Never iron directly over the sleeve work; press around it, or from the reverse with a cloth in between. Keep black cotton out of direct sun, which lifts the dye.
