Three different surfaces, said plainly

The shirt is printed, with applique over it — shapes cut from one fabric and stitched onto another, sitting raised above the printed surface. You can feel the difference between the two with a hand across the cloth.

The dupatta is chikankari-style with a block print. Not hand chikankari from Lucknow — the style, machine worked. Genuine hand chikankari costs several times this, and you should know which one you are buying.

The bottom is plain cream cotton, which is what keeps the set from becoming busy.

No lining needed

The cotton is opaque enough to wear on its own — one less layer, one less line on the tailoring bill.

How to wash it

Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Dry in shade. Wash separately the first time.

Green against cream needs that separate first wash more than most — anything that releases has a pale ground right beside it. Do not wring, and keep the iron off the applique: tugging loosens the stitching that holds the shapes down.

Who this suit is for

Everyday wear with more going on than a plain print — work, visiting, a daytime occasion that does not need dressing up for. Green and cream is a fresh, cool pairing that suits heat.

Not the one if you want low-maintenance. A cream ground shows everything, and applique needs careful handling.

Stitching

Stitching is a separate service, charged on top of the fabric price. With applique, agree the placement with your tailor before cutting — the motifs are fixed on the cloth, so where they land depends on how it is cut. Stitched orders take 7–15 working days before dispatch.

Care

Hand wash only, cold water, mild detergent. Dry in shade. Wash separately the first time. Do not wring. Iron on medium, never over the applique.

You have two green applique cotton suits at different prices — what is the difference?

This one is printed cotton with applique added over the print, and it comes with a chikankari-style dupatta and a cream cotton bottom. Our other green applique suit has no print at all — the applique is the entire decoration, and it comes with a taffeta bottom. More surface work means a higher price.

Is the dupatta real chikankari?

No. It is chikankari-style, machine worked, with a block print. Genuine hand chikankari from Lucknow is a different thing at a different price, and we do not describe this as that.

What is applique work?

Shapes cut from one fabric and stitched onto another to build a motif. It gives raised, layered texture you can feel, rather than a flat print.
