What a patola print is
Patola is a double-ikat weave from Patan in Gujarat, where both warp and weft threads are dyed to pattern before a single thread is woven. Getting the two to line up on the loom is among the most demanding things done in Indian textiles, and woven patola is priced accordingly — a genuine patola saree costs more than most people spend on a car.
This suit carries a patola print — that distinctive stepped geometry printed onto art silk, not woven as double ikat. You get the visual language of the tradition at a price woven patola does not reach, and we would rather say that plainly than let the word imply something it isn't.
Art silk, not silk
The fabric is art silk — a silk-look fabric with a smooth drape and a subtle lustre. It is not pure silk, and we say so on the page rather than leaving you to find out.
For a printed patola design that is arguably the better choice anyway. Art silk holds a printed pattern with clean, sharp edges, it does not water-mark the way real silk does, and it costs a fraction as much — so you can wear it to a function without worrying about it.
Mustard with hot pink
Mustard and hot pink is a properly traditional Indian pairing — warm against cool, both at full strength, neither backing down. It is the kind of combination that looks bold on a hanger and entirely right at a family function, where a muted colour disappears.
The contrast bottom is part of the design rather than an afterthought, which means the set already coordinates without you having to source anything.
The full-width dupatta
The dupatta is printed across its full width rather than carrying a border and a plain centre. That matters when it is draped: you see pattern wherever it falls, rather than a plain expanse across the shoulder with decoration only at the edges.
Where to wear it
A festive piece. It suits a family celebration, a daytime wedding function, Diwali, Navratri, a puja, or a function where colour is expected. Mustard photographs well in daylight, so it works as easily at a day event as an evening one.
Stitching this suit
The suit is supplied unstitched, so the neckline, sleeve length and fit are yours to decide. It can be stitched up to size 5XL. With a geometric print, a simpler cut usually works better — heavy panelling breaks the pattern's grid. StudioJazz offers a stitching service; share what you have in mind and we will discuss it with you.
Care
Dry clean only. Dry and store in shade — sunlight is harder on a printed fabric than washing is, and a strong colour fades more visibly than a muted one.

A note on colour and print
Natural variation in colour and print placement is characteristic of this kind of fabric and is not a defect. Print placement on your piece may differ slightly from the photographs.
Frequently asked questions
Is this suit silk?
No. It is art silk — a silk-look fabric with a smooth drape and subtle lustre, not pure silk.
What is a patola print?
Patola is a double-ikat weave from Patan in Gujarat, with a distinctive stepped, geometric pattern. A patola print reproduces that geometry onto fabric.
Is this woven patola?
No. This is a patola print, not a woven double-ikat patola, which is one of the most expensive textiles in India.
Why art silk rather than silk?
For a printed design art silk holds the pattern with cleaner edges, does not water-mark the way real silk does, and costs a fraction as much — so you can wear it to a function without worrying about it.
What colours is this set?
Mustard with a hot pink contrast, and a full-width printed dupatta.
What does full-width printed mean?
The dupatta carries the print across its entire width rather than a border with a plain centre, so you see pattern wherever it falls when draped.
What's included and how much fabric?
Three pieces of 2.5 metres each — shirt, bottom and dupatta — 7.5 metres in total.
What cut suits a geometric print?
A simpler cut generally works better. Heavy panelling interrupts the grid of the pattern.
How do I care for it?
Dry clean only. Dry and store in shade, since sunlight fades a printed fabric faster than washing does.
When will my order be dispatched?
Within 48 working hours of order confirmation. Orders placed on a Sunday or a public holiday are processed the next working day.
How long will delivery take?
3 to 7 business days across India once dispatched. So an unstitched order placed today typically reaches you within about a week.
Is shipping free?
Free shipping applies to prepaid orders of Rs. 3,000 and above. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout. Cash on Delivery orders carry a flat Rs. 150 charge.
Do you offer Cash on Delivery?
Yes, on orders up to Rs. 6,000 in value. A flat Rs. 150 shipping charge applies to COD orders.
Can this be stitched to my size?
It can be stitched up to size 5XL, and the neckline, sleeve length and fit are yours to choose.
Do you stitch it, and what does that cost?
Yes, StudioJazz offers stitching. Charges depend on the design and the amount of work involved — message us and we will confirm the cost before you proceed.
Do you ship internationally?
StudioJazz has shipped to 13 countries. International shipping is available on request — message us with your location before ordering.
